The village of Odell has a number of attractions. Ordinarily this is good walking territory, and in addition to All Saints Church, there are many pretty homes to admire. These include the building on the site of Odell Castle.
The lakes of the Harrold-Odell Country Park and nearby Felmersham Wildlife Sanctuary are a haven for nature. Over 160 species of birds have been recorded at the Park; dragonflies are well represented; and amongst the wild flowers are various orchids. The Park also boasts the Truly Scrumptious tearooms, linked to a small information centre, and rangers are sometimes on hand to provide support for visitors.
For something more substantial to eat, The Bell Public House in Odell is worth visiting (photo). It has a large garden and patio near the river, and has previously received an Egon Ronay listing for its food.
Entertainments are understandably limited in this rural area, but from time to time events are staged at the Village Hall, guided walks are organised by the rangers, and of course, that very English tradition of a village fête is held in Odell annually. For people considering staying nearby there is Narly Oak Lodge. This is a Commended Bed & Breakfast facility in the nearby village of Clapham (Tel +44 1234 350353). Harrold, Pavenham and Sharnbrook look to be nice places to stay too.
Relevant transport nodes are Luton Airport and Bedford Rail Station.
